Quick answer: Add your pictures to the converter above, pick an output format (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, ICO or PDF), adjust quality or size if you want, and press Convert. Your images are processed inside your own browser, so they are not uploaded to our servers.
What this image converter does
This is a free online image converter for everyday jobs: turning a PNG into a JPG so a form accepts it, saving a photo as WebP for a faster website, making a favicon from a logo, or putting a few pictures into a PDF. You can convert one image or a whole folder at once and download the results as a ZIP.
It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG and HEIC (the format iPhones use for photos). It writes JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, ICO and PDF. There is no account to make, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.
How to convert an image, step by step
- Add your images. Drag them onto the box, click to browse, add a folder, or paste a screenshot with
Ctrl+V. - Choose the output format. Click a format button. If you are not sure which one to pick, the table further down explains the differences.
- Adjust the settings (optional). Use the quality slider, resize by width or percentage, or pick a preset such as Website, WhatsApp or Instagram.
- Convert. Press Convert all or convert files one at a time.
- Check and download. Use Compare to slide between the original and the result, then download each file or everything as a ZIP.
Your files stay on your device
Most online converters upload your pictures to a server first. This one does not. The conversion happens in your browser, using the same image tools your browser already has. That matters when the pictures are personal, such as ID scans, family photos or client work.
Three small helper libraries (for ZIP, PDF and HEIC) are loaded from a public CDN only when you use those features. They do not receive your images.
Which format should you choose?
Picking the right target format matters more than any setting. Here is how the six outputs compare in practice.
| Format | Best for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| JPG | Photos you want to share or upload anywhere | No transparency. Quality drops a little each time you re-save it. |
| PNG | Logos, screenshots, graphics with transparent backgrounds | Lossless, so files can be large for photos. |
| WebP | Website images that should load faster | Usually smaller than JPG at similar quality. Supported by current browsers, but some older apps cannot open it. |
| AVIF | Getting files as small as possible for the web | Often smaller than WebP, but not every browser can create it, and some tools cannot open it yet. |
| ICO | Website favicons and Windows icons | Start from a square image for the best result. This tool packs several sizes into one file. |
| Sending scans or pictures as a document | Pages are saved as images, so the text is not selectable. |

Tips for better results
Start from the original file
Every time you save a picture as JPG, WebP or AVIF, a little detail is thrown away. If you convert the same file back and forth, the loss adds up. Always go back to the original when you can.
Use the quality slider with care
For most photos, a quality between 75 and 90 looks the same to the eye and gives a much smaller file. Lower it step by step and use the Compare slider to see when the difference starts to show.
Resize before you upload
A 6000 px wide photo is far bigger than most websites need. Setting a max width of 1600 px, or using the Website preset, can reduce file size a lot without any visible change on a normal screen.
Fill transparent areas on purpose
JPG cannot store transparency. When you convert a transparent PNG to JPG, the clear areas are filled with the background colour you choose. It is white by default.
Things this tool cannot do
We would rather tell you the limits than have you find them yourself.
- Very large images. Because everything runs on your device, huge pictures can be slow or fail on phones with little memory. Try a smaller size if that happens.
- Animated GIFs. Only the first frame is converted.
- Colour profiles and metadata. Camera details and GPS data are removed, and some colour profiles may not carry over exactly.
- AVIF output. It depends on your browser. If the AVIF button is greyed out, your browser cannot create that format.
- Text in PDFs. PDFs made here contain pictures, not selectable text.
Frequently asked questions
Is this image converter really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. The site may show ads, which is how it covers its running costs.
Are my images uploaded to your servers?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, so your images stay on your device. Only small helper libraries for ZIP, PDF and HEIC are downloaded when needed.
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Add your PNG, choose JPG, and press Convert. Transparent areas will be filled with the background colour shown in the settings, which is white unless you change it.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Yes. Add the HEIC files and choose JPG, PNG or WebP. The first HEIC conversion takes a moment because the decoder loads on demand.
Which is better for a website, WebP or JPG?
WebP usually gives a smaller file at similar quality, which helps pages load faster. JPG is the safer choice if you also need the file to open in older software.
Does converting reduce image quality?
Converting to PNG keeps all detail. Converting to JPG, WebP or AVIF discards a small amount, which you control with the quality slider. Use the Compare view to check the result.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add several files or a whole folder, press Convert all, and download everything as one ZIP.
How do I make a favicon from my logo?
Add a square logo image and choose ICO, or pick the Favicon preset. The file includes several standard sizes in one download.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern mobile browser. Very large images may be slow on older phones.
